Q: What is Stephen Avenue Walk?
A: Stephen Avenue Walk (SAW) is often incorrectly referred to as Stephen Avenue Mall. SAW is an outdoor pedestrian walkway from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, 7 days per week. Between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am, it is a one-way, single-lane roadway with parking on the north side of the street.

Q: Can I park on Stephen Avenue?
A: Parking is not permitted on SAW between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. However, deliveries are permitted between 6:00 am and 10:30 am and again between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm IF you obtain a vehicle access permit from the CDA. The cost is $25 plus GST for one day access per vehicle or $575.00 plus GST per vehicle for an annual permit which allows you a 15 minute delivery window. Bicycles, skateboards and rollerblades are not allowed between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Q: My Company is located on SAW and sometimes they arrange an employee activity and hires a bus to take us there and back. Can the bus pick us up right on SAW?
A: Either someone from your company's coordinating committee or the transportation company can obtain a one-day permit to pick you up and drop you off. The cost is $25.00 plus GST per vehicle per day.

Q: During the summer I have seen yellow tents on Stephen Avenue Walk, can anyone use one of these?
A: The tents are for use by approved vendors and artists. If you wish to apply for a vending spot, we start accepting applications in January of each year and the successful vendors are notified by the end of April. We look for unusual and unique items that aren't commonly found in our local merchant locations. Details on our vendor/artist program can be found on the website under Stephen Avenue Walk » Vendors / Artists.

Q: Can I Busk on Stephen Avenue Walk?
A: Yes, but you will need a City of Calgary Busker's ID. The Calgary Downtown Association issues them on behalf of the City from our office at 720, 304 — 8 Avenue SW.

Q: Do you offer Historical tours in downtown Calgary?
A: No, the Calgary Downtown Association does not offer the tours, however they can be arranged by calling (403) 284-3731.

Q: I sometimes see people promoting things, e.g. selling flowers for the Cancer Society and the recent snowboard and skiing activity for Sunshine Village. How could I get a spot to something like that?
A: We have an on-line application form for events and promotions on our website. Just fill in the fields with as much information as possible and submit it. If your event is deemed appropriate, our Downtown Pedestrian Mall Manager will contact you to work out the details.
