Festivals & Fanfare

Festival season kicks off in May with the Calgary International Children's Festival and goes strong throughout the year. Festivals are so popular in the city, especially downtown, you will be tempted to go everywhere in one day!

The summer months have beautiful weather and 90% of the festivals are located outdoors. The most popular downtown venues are Prince's Island Park, Olympic Plaza, Shaw Millennium Park and Eau Claire Festival Plaza.

Fiestaval - Latin Festival

Fiestaval is a 2-day free multicultural arts and entertainment festival celebrating Latin American culture on July 24 and 25, 2010.  It is a free, family-oriented alternative for celebrating multicultural arts and entertainment in Calgary.  It will feature live music, dance lessons and showcases, authentic Latin Food and Latin handicrafts, beer gardens, a kid’s area and much more!

Not wanting to take in a full festival but want to enjoy what the summer months in downtown Calgary have to offer? Take in a performance of Shakespeare in the Park, located in the natural amphitheatre in Prince's Island Park. The 2010 season starts July 2 and runs through August 21 showcasing 3 plays — Othello, Much Ado About Nothing and Double Falsehood.
